Hours of Operation

Kids Korner Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Kids Korner will be closed on the following Holidays:

New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Labor Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Good Friday
Independence Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

School Closings and Delays

Enrollment Policy

Enrollment shall be open to any child at least two years of age to twelve years of age, provided the center can meet the needs of that child. It shall be granted to all children at least two years of age to twelve years of age, regardless of race, creed, or religious beliefs. Parents need to provide an updated health inventory, including immunizations and lead addendum. A $20 registration fee is required for each child to enroll.

Payment

If your child is absent, you are still required to pay. Private pay-parents must pay at the end of each week or the end of every two weeks. If payment is not received in the two week period, your child may be terminated or may not attend until tuition is paid in full.

Purchase of care is accepted through the Department of Social Services and scholarships are available for families in need through the Judy Center Agency.

There will be a $25 fee on all returned checks. A second offense will result in acceptance of cash only for fees and tuition.

There is a $20 registration fee for all new enrollments. There is an activity feel of $3 charged monthly throughout the year.

Schedules

If your child is scheduled to attend Kids Korner on a day agreed upon in your contract with Kids Korner and your child is absent, you are still required to pay for those absent days. Please notify the center if your child's schedule needs to be changed. Once schedules are established, you will be responsible to pay for those times.

Parents and Extended Family Involvement

At Kids Korner we make it a priority when it comes to family involvement. We like to partner with our families to help their children learn and grow in a postive environment. We keep all information confidential. We have an open door policy to parents and extended family. We plan to:

  • Do an assessment on your child.
  • Plan quarterly conferences with your child's family.
  • Keep a portfolio for each child.
  • Invite family members to read and volunteer for special classroom events.
  • Invite parents to help at parent workshops.
  • Have a parent information board.
  • Give out monthly calendars and newsletters.
  • Have parents complete surveys.
  • Have activities for parents to do with their child at home.

Sign-In/Sign-Out

When you enter and leave Kids Korner, please make sure you sign your child in and out on the computer and on the sign-in/sign-out sheets. Each child's parents or guardian will be given a code for use of the computer.

Release of Child

Your child will not be released to any person not listed on their emergency card. This is for the safety of your child. Please notify us in writing if someone different will be picking up your child.

Discipline

We will be using the following process for discipline:

  • Step 1 - Redirection
  • Step 2 - Redirection
  • Step 3 - Thinking Chair (Time Out)
  • Step 4 - Parent Conference
  • Step 5 - Termination

Meals

Breakfast will be provided by the cafeteria. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. If you are going to be later than this, please provide your child with breakfast at home. Each child is expected to bring a nutritional packed lunch daily. Lunch time will be at 11:45 a.m. Snack will be provided by Kids Korner at 3:00 p.m.

Illnesses

If your child develops any of the following symptoms, please keep them at home:

  • reddened eyes with discharge (pinkeye)
  • sore throat
  • fever
  • severe coughing
  • abdominal pain with fever
  • vomiting or diarrhea

Parents will be called when any of these symptoms appear after a child is at Kids Korner.

Medication

Medication may be given to your child only if you have a written prescription from the child's physician and a blue form filled out and signed by the doctor. Over the counter medication will not be given to your child.

What Your Child Needs

Your child will need to bring a small pillow and small blanket to fitt in a small zip up bag. Your child needs to bring a backpack or tote each day. This should contain an extra change of clothing, wipes, diapers if applicable and a nutritional packed lunch. Please put your child's name on these items.

Rest Time

We are required by the State of Maryland to have a rest time. If your child is enrolled in the program during this time, they will be required to follow our schedule. Rest time is for ages 2 through 5 years.
